OOPS! I put down the wrong location for the Gather the Women Annual Gathering! It is in Los Gatos, California.
It’s been quite a while since I wrote my last blog for Gather the Women. I’ve always taken my responsibilities seriously so not writing the blog has been weighing on me. I know that no one is checking the website every day and wondering what’s holding me back, but that little Guilt Nudger checks in much too often.
I’ve had chest pain for three years and have been diagnosed with Costochondritis, which is a kind of arthritis in my rib cage. It hurts. It wears me out. Every once in a while, I get a moment of clarity (the proverbial “Aha!” moment), and I decide to just do what I can. Laugh as much as possible. Pet our cats. Eat chocolate chip ice cream. Sit in the sun with my cup of coffee.
Today, I planted bright colored flowers in the planters on our deck. We are having record-breaking sunshine here in Juneau and lots of hours of daylight. I can almost see the plants stretching towards that gorgeous blue sky as soon as I put them in the soil.
Last week, I registered for the Gather the Women Annual Gathering in LOS GATOS. I hesitated for several weeks before making my decision. Would I be ok? Would I be able to participate? But I have had this malady for three years and I’ve gone to the annual gatherings anyway. I am going to be in the circle. I’ve ordered Laurie McCammon’s book “Enough! How to Remake the World with Just One Word” and am looking forward to reading it and to seeing where it takes us.
We will be gathering in a beautiful part of California. I want to hug a giant Redwood tree again. I want to visit Monterey Bay again. But most of all, I want to gather with the women.
