2003 International Women's Day

The Gather the Women initiative began in March of 2003 with women creating gatherings around the world in a global movement to weave a world of balance, justice, harmony and peace. Four hundred and five gatherings in 23 countries were listed on our website and we were told of many more that were not listed.

Countries listed included: Afghanistan, Australia, Brazil, Burundi, Canada, The Congo, England, Gambia, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, and Wales.

Gatherings were also held in 38 states in the United States including: Arkansas, Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Nebraska, Hew Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Washington, DC.
