| Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada Gathering
Hello, In Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada, we held a Gather
the Women event. We set up a Labyrinth and a Red tent. We also
had Reiki, Massage, Hair, Nails, make-up, Mini make-overs, food,
child care and bellydancing ended the day as we all danced out
of the auditorium. We had 200 woman and children attend and
the whole event was free!!
We are a committee of womyn who submitted a proposal to our
government, and obtained some funding for the event. We started
meeting in January over our lunch-hours for 12 weeks once
a week, and planned and organized this event.
We love being part of it and each year we grow. We are very
happy that this year we included a spiritual component along
with the "Beauty Myth" component, and they were
equally well attended. In the Red tent we offered womyns stories
of birthing, menarche, menopause and all things cycle related.
We had First Nations womyn, French womyn, Finnish and many
other cultures offering their stories.
It was a wonderful success with lots of laughter and joy.
We look forward to the day when the Beauty Myth stuff will
not even be attended!
