6 Congresses on 6 Continents Launching in 2006
Gather the Women: The Time is Now

We acknowledge that we cannot know the outcome of our work, and that this work is continuously unfolding in powerful, expansive ways we could not imagine.

Therefore, we commit ourselves to following that energy as best we can in a fluid process based on faith.

In 2004, Gather the Women broadcast an invitation to the grassroots women of the world: we are looking for women to step into leadership to anchor one of 6 Gather the Women Congresses on 6 Continents.

Each of the six Congresses would be anchored by women leaders in diverse regions of the world and would reach out to build networks of regional women and women's organizations. Each would be organized with an emphasis on inviting grassroots women to share timely information, ideas and resources. 6 Congresses on 6 Continents was planned to be much more than a series of meetings; it was to offer a capacity-building model to develop feminine leadership skills and collaborative partnerships in concentrated hubs around the world.

Women around the world began immediately to say 'yes' to this invitation, and the journey began. Regional Congress planning circles were formed, and several meetings were held in 2004 and 2005 to build supportive global connections. Over a two year period, unique regional Congresses began to take shape.

The first GTW Congress convened in Canada in June 2006, followed by Africa in December 2006 and Australia in July 2007. Planning continues for South America, Europe and Asia.
