How
to Begin
We encourage women to explore our web site and then come together
for coffee or tea and discuss what you have seen.
What questions come up about GTW?
What additional ideas are inspired?
What does your community need?
How might you create partnerships and solutions?
Our work is based on self-organizing principles and grass roots
involvement.
New Partnership to Outreach to Younger Women
We would encourage those who are creating gatherings to reach
out to younger women this year. To support this effort GTW is helping
to launch the International Museum of Women’s exciting project
to reach younger women.
The International Museum of Women’s 2006 project, Imagining
Ourselves: A New Generation of Women launches on International Women’s
Day, March 8, 2006. The project aims to engage audiences in conversation
and provide a platform for young women to create positive change
in their own lives, communities, and the world.
For the first time in history, women in early adulthood, with
the backdrop of their social, political, economic, and ethnic diversity,
are genuinely poised to contribute vital leadership around the world.
Yet, they face significant obstacles to assuming these roles. Imagining
Ourselves addresses these obstacles by exploring the changes, opportunities,
and challenges facing the first truly global generation of women
through global dialogue.
The Museum’s team has made tremendous progress in laying
the groundwork for the Imagining Ourselves project, including building
an interactive exhibit, securing international partnerships, and
developing a worldwide public relations, viral marketing and outreach
campaign to inspire young women to participate in the project. So
far, over 400 women in 105 countries and 6 continents are ready
to join the conversation beginning on March 8, 2006. Visit their
website at www.imow.org
If you are planning to create a March Gathering 2006 you will receive
information on this project, which in turn can be disseminated at
your gathering.
GTW Ongoing
This year will are also encouraging planners to consider ways
for GTW to stay active and alive throughout the year. GTW can become
a presence in your community.
We welcome you questions and are available to discuss your concerns
and issues. Contact Marilyn@GatherTheWomen.org.
