Gather the Women Celebrates International Women's Day 2007

An invitation to create a celebration of International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day has been honored and celebrated around the world for many decades on March 8.  You are invited to join Gather the Women as we celebrate our 5th International Women’s Day.  

Gather the Women wants also to focus on all women’s inner qualities which inspire and sustain us.  We want to honor and to celebrate the spirit of women, the divine feminine within all, the innate qualities of women so urgently needed in the world today.

You are invited to gather women in your community during the month of March to celebrate International Women’s Day. The gathering can be of any size.  In the past there have been up to 500 individual gatherings from a small potluck in Alaska to 200 women gathered in the Congo. 

In order to deepen our energetic connection with one another around the world Gather the Women provides four common threads: 

• Using the GTW common theme.  The theme for 2007 is:
  
  CELEBRATING THE WAYS OF WOMEN
  "Wherever you are is the entry point."  Kabir

• Reading the Gather the Women vision statement.

• Posting the gathering, regardless of size or whether it is a public or private event, on the special March calendar on the GTW website

• Acknowledging the other Gather the Women events being celebrated around the world to connect energetically.

We encourage gatherings to include an opportunity for every woman to be heard either through circle sharing or in other group interactions.  We also suggest a follow-up meeting a month or so after the event to create ongoing women’s circle and discover a core of women who might create a Gather the Women presence in your community.

Ideas and suggestions for successful gatherings are posted on the GTW web site. Mentoring and individual support is offered by Marilyn Nyborg at Marilyn@gatherthewomen.org. 

The process of gathering women in your own community is very empowering and unifying. The culmination of the gathering itself is deeply rewarding.  When women come together wonderful things happen.
